| Here’s another versatile melodic riff in the key of A minor. It opens with a quick run up a short arpeggio (Chord tones played sequentially) and ends with a nice legato slide up and back before resolving to the 5th (E) of our I chord, Am. Notice from the audio clip that the timing maintains a nice flow while changing the speeds of movement rather dramatically. This creates a melodic flow without sounding mechanical. Note: to create the legato effect on the slide, be sure to pick only the G note found on the B string (8th fret) and slide up to the A (10th fret) and back to the G in one fluid motion. Consult the video clip to see this more clearly. Enjoy! |
