| This is a progression in the key of A minor utilizing the I(Am), VII(G) and VI(F) chords. It begins with the Am and G chord splitting 1 measure and repeating. This Am to G sequence occurs 3 times with the Am replaced by the F on what would be the 4th time. This 4th measure variation creates a 'turnaround' effect which rounds out the 4 measure progression. A turnaround occurs at the end of a progression and basically sets up repetitions. (These are very pronounced in blues). Here are the tones that comprise each chord for the purposes of resolving your phrases. Note: with quick chord changes like this, you can play through some of the changes in lieu of attempting to resolve on every single chord. Am = A, C and E G = G, B and D F = F, A and C |
