This progression is a I, IV, III in the key of A minor.  However, since the
IV chord (Dm) is actually played as power chord (no 3rd, the note that
distinguishes major from minor) you could also play an A Dorian scale
which has a major IV chord.  This will give an edgier sound than the
more melodic character produced by the natural minor scale.  Of
course there are always the A minor pentatonic and blues scales.

Here's the breakdown of the chords as they appear in this application.
I chord =Am (comprised of A, C and E notes)
IV chord=D5 (comprised of D and A notes)
III chord=C add9 (comprised of C, E, G and D notes)

The progression is
|| Am | D5 Cadd9 :||
